This past Sunday I had the opportunity to attend the West End Tour of Homes in the historic West End neighborhood, in southwest Atlanta. West End was once a thriving are that had gone downhill in recent years. It was plagued drugs and crime. Many of the beautiful homes were left vacant and in need of much repair. This was also a hot area for Mortgage fraud. Slowly, but surely this area is being revived and will soon become one of the HOTTEST intown neighborhoods to move into. The residents of this community are determined to return West End to its GLORY DAYS. During the tour of homes I saw 12 fabulous resdiences, that totally blew my mind. Most of the homes on the tour were Craftsman or Victorian Bungalows. Each owner has transfered their home into wonderful treasure. Many of the homes were decorated with Art. I loved the beautiful hardwood floors and the bold and vibrant colors of the walls. I can truly appreciate the value of an older home. With older homes you have the flexibility to be creative in terms of remodeling. Most of these homes were built 100 years ago or longer and withstood the test of time. With a little TLC I know these homes can withstand another 100 years. I can’t wait till next year’s tour!!!!!!!
